Breaking news

Our Chairman Chris Jackson whos has guided us over the last two years has deciced to stand down. He joined the our committee in January 2009, and in this time has seen a complete update of the class rules, our own SSI's, and the updating of our Constitution.

The UKRCLA Committee wish to record our appreciation and thanks to Chris for all the hard workin bringing the Association documentation up to date.

And I will miss our on the water duels.

Which leave the position open for a new chairman, are there any proposals from the membership.

UK Laser Nationals Quick report

The 2 day meeting run by West Lanc's Yacht club was held on 21/22nd may.

On sat we had numerous rig changes from C to D down to B and A then straight back to D, the lake had a weed problem which reduced as the day went on with us completing 9 races (18 flights)

Sunday we rose to 40-50 mph winds, the race team moved us to the wave protected corner of the lake keeping us away from the .5m wave pattern were we sailed on the sat. The only sail to be used was the D and fast exciting racing was the order of the day, completing 11 races (20 flights)giving a total event tally of 20 races (40 flights) sailed giving 3 discards.

T5 Planet radio Test on the UKRCLA demo boat.

Range on land (tested on the road in front of the club, still working ok when we could not see hand signals from person with the boat!!!!) On the water the range exceeds any normal racing distance, at Hawley still full control at approx 150 Metres. T5 instruction manual state range in the order of 150 Metres.

shows how unprotected the connections and minimal case are In protective case

Second photo. shows one solution, with a cut out formed for the plugs the "oral B interdental brush box" gives protection to the exposed pins and some mechanical along with water splash protection, and because it only loosely fits air can circulate, hopefully preventing condensation? (when we used to use balloons to protect receivers in RC model cars in the rain too tight an enclosure caused condensation!)

John Park.
