Covid precautions

Schedule of Races

           

Saturday, 3rd September: -

  • 09.00hrs Venue opens

  • 09.00hrs Registration

  • 10.30hrs Boats off the water

  • 10.45hrs ROs briefing

  • 11.00hrs Race Commencement

  • 16.00hrs No race to start later than this time

           

Sunday, 4th September: -

  • 0945hrs ROs briefing

  • 1000hrs Race commencement

  • 1530hrs No race to start later than this time

  • Prize giving to follow ASAP after the last race

 

Rules

       The event will be governed by the current version of the following rules.

  • Racing Rules of Sailing as amended by Appendix E

  • The UK RC Laser Class Association Standard Sailing rules which can be found at the UK RC Laser Web site

  • Scoring will be done using https://www.mya-uk.org.uk/kb/mya-heat-management-system-hms-current/, hereafter referred to as HMS, for the remainder of the Sailing Instructions. A copy will be available at the Race Office.

  • Any changes made to the Sailing Instructions will be posted on the Official Notice Board at Race Control

  • Except for any start or finish marks, a boats hull or rigging may touch a mark of the course, provided that the mark has been rounded correctly as described by the course set. This varies RRS 31

  • All boats must comply with the RC Laser Class Rules - version dated 7th June 2011, with current approved amendments up to August, 2012. All boats can be subject to compliance checks, to the Class Rules. Sail identification shall comply with the diagrams and guidance provided by the UKRCLA. This varies RRS E6

  • D rigs, factory supplied may be used. Those produced by John Tushingham, or any other non-factory sail, are not approved.

  • Random checks can be made on any boat at any time during the event, to make sure they comply with the RC Laser class rules, these checks will be undertaken by the RC Laser international Association Technical Rules Team.

 

 

Entries and Eligibility

  • All skippers must be registered members of the UKRCLA, or relevant national bodies of their country, and are expected to comport themselves in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. They must, individually, be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per event, or equivalent.

  • Entries must be filled in on the Official Entry Form.  https://www.rclaser.org.uk/

  • There will be a list of entries on the website indicating attendance

  • Entry Fees - Event entry fees is £35.00 (Juniors £10) payable on the day at Registration (Payable by PayPal (invoice will be sent), or cheque/Cash on the day)

  • There will be a limited entry of 30 UK boats, on a first come first served basis. A waiting list will be compiled, and entrants on the list will be informed either by email or telephone by Sunday 28th August 2022 if their entry has been successful.

 

Sailing Instructions

This event will be run under the current version of the Racing Rules of Sailing and The UK RC Laser Class Association Standard Sailing rules which can be found at the UK RC Laser Web site. The Race Officer reserves the right to use Observers drawn from the competitors. A protest committee, if required, will be appointed by the Race Committee to hear any protests arising from the event and where possible will comprise of competitors not involved in the incident is alleged to have occurred.

Competitors with disability

       Competitors that require any form of help or special requirements should, prior to entry, get in touch with the club contact given in Section 12 to check if the venue is able to help with the provision of any such special requirements. The onus is on the competitor to establish whether the available facilities are adequate before deciding to enter the event

Registration

The following shall be presented to the Race Committee at Registration: -

  • Name

  • Boat details

  • emergency contact details

 

Information for competitors

  • Race Areas, Marks, Courses to be sailed etc, will be advised verbally by the Race Officer, and clearly shown on the Official Course Board. All signals will be made ashore, from Race Control, which will be located around the lake or by the Club House.

  • The sailing area will adjacent to the Boathouse Café at Barton’s Point Country Park near Sheerness, Kent. This can be seen at https://www.bartonspointcoastalpark.co.uk/  

 

Protests

A protest committee, if required, will be appointed by the Race Committee to hear any protests arising from the event and where possible will comprise of competitors not involved in the incident is alleged to have occurred.

 

Prizes and trophies

Prizes or trophies will be awarded.

 

Disclaimer of liability

  • All those entering or taking part in this event do so at their own risk and responsibility.

  • The UK RC Laser Association, the organising authority, the host club and any other parties involved in the organisation of this event disclaim any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods both ashore or on the water as a consequence of entering or participating in the event covered by this Notice of Race.

  • At all times the responsibility for the safety of their boat and themselves plus the decision to participate or continue must rest with the competitor.

Additional Information, Advice and enquiries

  • Catering – There is a café which offers tea, coffee, rolls, sandwiches, soup and main meals, which will be open.

  • Venue - A very good, large, saltwater, lake with a walkway all round, situated in a large free car park area

  • Directions: From M2 junction 5 take A249 to Queenborough/Sheerness go over Kingsferry Bridge. Keep in right hand lane on approach to roundabout. Take 2nd exit to Eastchurch B2231 at next roundabout after 100yds take 2nd exit to Eastchurch B2231. In ½ mile take 1st exit at roundabout onto Barton Hill Drive, next roundabout take 1st exit Barton Hill Drive, at mini roundabout take 2nd exit (right turn) onto Minster Road for approx. 200yds, next mini roundabout turn left onto The Broadway proceed to seafront and follow road around left turn onto Marine Parade. After approx. ½ mile Look for The Barton Point Coastal Park sign on left hand side, follow roadway parallel to lake to the end. Enter Car Park. Lake and Barton Point Cafe

Permission to use images

  • By Entering all competitors expressly give their permission for any images or photographs taken during the event to be used by the UK Laser association and MRCLC for promotion and press releases etc.

  • On site camping for tents and motorhomes. The facilities are very limited.
