Sailing Instructions

The UK RC Laser Class Association, and UK Standard Sailing Instructions will apply, these can be found at the UK RC Laser Web site http://www.rclaser.org.uk


The event will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, 2021 - 2023, & Appendix E, the RC Laser Class Rules, and the UK RC Laser Standard Sailing Instructions 2019. Scoring (if flights required) will be done using Heat Management System (HMS latest version), hereafter referred to as RRS, for the remainder of the Sailing Instructions.

Any changes made to the Sailing Instructions will be posted on the Official Notice Board at Race Control.

Except for any start or finish marks, a boats hull or rigging may touch a mark of the course, provided that the mark has been rounded correctly as described by the course set. This varies RRS 31.

All skippers must be registered members of the UKRCLA, or relevant national bodies of their country, and are expected to comport themselves in a sportsmanlike manner at all times.

They must, individually, be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per event, or equivalent.

Competitors participate in the Regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, decision to race.

Class Rules

All boats will have to comply with the RC Laser Class Rules - version dated 7th June 2011, with current approved amendments up to August, 2012. All boats can be subject to compliance checks, to the Class Rules. Sail identification shall comply with the diagrams and guidance provided by the UKRCLA. This varies RRS E6.

All signals will be made from ashore, from Race Control, which will be located adjacent to the Club House.

Information for competitors regarding Race Areas, Marks, Courses to be sailed etc, will be advised verbally by the Race Officer, and clearly shown on the Official Course Board.


The Heat Management System (HMS) shall apply. A copy will be available at the Race Office.

  • Friday 9th Sept 2021

o Club open at 10.30 am (Skippers can practice access to loos etc.)

o Measurement and registration from14:00
o No recovery boat on lake.

  • Saturday, 11th Sept 2021

o 0800hrs Venue opens

o 0900hrs – 10:00 hrs Registration o 1030hrs Boats off the water
o 1045hrs ROs briefing
o 1100hrs Race Commencement

o 1630hrs No flight to start later than this time o 1700 AGM
o 19:30 hrs Skippers supper

  • Sunday, 12th Sept 2021

o 0945hrs ROs briefing

o 1000hrs Race commencement
o 1530hrs No race to start later than this time


Information on Sailing Venue

Catering: There will be opportunity to order lunches, and buy tea /coffee on both days. The entry will include a ticket to the skipper’s fish and chip supper on sat night at the clubhouse
